I’ve been persuaded to write a blog. I’ve written four complete novels, but I have never before written a blog. What should I write about? Are there any courses I can take on blog writing? What is its purpose, and will it detract from my novel writing? More to the point, will anybody read it? I’m about to find out…
The first ever blogger was Justin Hall on links.net in 1994. On his blog he posted some of the first ever dick pics. I am not proposing to post any dick pics, so relax. He also published an early guide to the Internet. These days that’s called Google, and I don’t think I’ll bother trying to compete with them.
So, what’s the point of my blog, and why is it called Notes from Eden?
It’s called Notes from Eden because I had a spare unused domain called edennote.com. The first garden was reputed to be the Garden of Eden, and I could wax on about the birth of humankind and fig leaves, but it’s really nothing to do with it.
I’m not going to tell you what I had for breakfast, or when my son last had chicken pox; I’m not going to bemoan my lousy royalty rates on my books; I’m not going to try to influence you to buy a brand of moisturiser.
What you’ll find on my blog are my musings about politics and corruption, as well as examples of my writing. I hope many of my posts will be amusing, and a few will prove to be enlightening. There’ll be links to my books as they become available (who knew?) and some short stories that will be free to download.
I’m not going to ask you to subscribe to anything, and I’m not going to sell your personal data to Russian hackers, unless the price is right.
So, this is my first blog entry – and what do you know? I’ve created a blog.
